If you forgo the engagement ring you could always get a huge diamond wedding band with at least 1 carat.

it’s not even important to receive a ring at all it doesn’t make a person love another any more. I have been married for 25 years, never had an engagement ring don.t even wear a wedding ring now, but still love him.

It would be nice but not necessary. As long as I know he loves me that’s enough. He can’t afford it financially yet so maybe years down the road when he’s financially set he can surprise me with one as an anniversary gift.

My original wedding set was used and my then boyfriend sold something of value to him to pay for it. I didn’t care about the size. I was LOVE STRUCK!!! I now have a much larger set, but it wasn’t something I had to have. I sure wont complain though because it is beautiful!!!

I didn’t get an engagement ring before I got married. We spent the money on our home and some other things we wanted. I didn’t do a church wedding either. Big waste of time and money to me.Every one is different though. Some people have to have the ring and the wedding.

Goodness yes, at least one carat per fiancee.

No! Some want to receive a big diamond simply for show and bragging. Some want to give a big diamond …for the same reasons. If you truly love a man, would you deny yourself a future with him if he couldn’t afford a diamond? If you would then you really don’t love the man, you’re in love with a dream and are a greedy person! For some it seems to be tradition a statement of promising to marry. But it certainly isn’t necessary to have a diamond ring!

No. It depends on if you actually like diamonds. Quality for quality and carat for carat and ruby is actually much more valuable than a diamond.
Personally, when i get engaged I do not want a diamond.

I don’t understand this fascination with a special engagement ring.
I grew up with the tradition that wedding band and engagement ring are the same. You just move them from the left side (engagement - where your heart is) to the right side (wedding - the hand you use to sign legal documents).
With that custom it is much easier to understand why you give back the ring when you decide not to marry at all.
Regarding any diamonds:
I care more about clarity and color than carat. Clarity should be at least VS, better VVS, color is to your preference - I prefer (Top) Wesselton or River.

Carats is not the only issue you must think of the other 3 C’s cut color and clarity.
But to answer your question one to one and a half carat princess cut.

No. I wouldn’t even want a diamont ring, there’s a lot of other things I’d rather want done with the money.
Engagement rings need not always contain diamonds. Popular trends include using gemstones as sidestones as well as other precious stones.
