Does anybody know where I can find reliable information on non-diamond engagement rings?

diamond engagement rings
BabyBear asked:

All the jewelers I’ve talked to just stared like I was speaking gobbledygook. I’m specifically looking for corundum, like ruby or blue sapphire. Do you know of a jeweler or website that can give me info on settings, origin, price, etc.?
My BF is not a “cheapskate”. I just have a problem with wearing something that is supposed to symbolize love that was mined in a war-torn country by a starving five-year-old. It is much easier (though sometimes more expensive) to find corundum that was mined by paid adult workers.

Go onto Ebay and look for a ruby or sapphire, which both are forms of corundum. Just do a search and ask for Jewelers, than look for colored gem stones. Princess Diana wedding ring was a sapphire so they do exist. Colored gems as engagement rings are cool. I have one it is a Ruby. I simply love it

QVC or HSN on cable tv….my relative has gotten some beautiful cubic circonium rings…they look just like diamonds…but waaaaaaaaaaay cheaper….goodluck…I also got one at Kmart…it’s very pretty…you would totally think it is real…it was $35….I got it around xmas time for 1/2 off….

There’s the ring I designed for my fiance (blue sapphire and diamond)

Engagement rings need not always contain diamonds. Popular trends include using gemstones as sidestones as well as other precious stones.
