Thinking of getting a diamond engagement ring with pink sapphires on the side. How unusual is this?

I am a bit traditional, and I still really want my engagement ring to look like an engagement ring, not just a fashion ring. But the center stone will be a diamond… the pink sapphires are on the sides and tiny.

How many people actually get a diamond engagement ring?

Jenny asked:

My boyfriend keeps asking me what kind of ring I would want. I have never been a huge fan of diamonds. I have noticed that more and more people now get a colored stone with small diamonds around it or just a band. I really want an engagement ring, but would perfer something non-traditional, maybe blue. Has anyone done this or would you do this? What do you think?

Should I want a traditional diamond engagement ring or go for something more personally meaningful & different

Twinkle asked:

My boyfriend hints that he wants to marry me. The feeling is mutual. I’ve never been one to follow tradition blindly. I never had the desire to have a big diamond ring on my finger, but I would like a special engagement ring and I would like it to be a surprise. I am a gemini (was born in June), love the colors blue and green, am environmentally conscious (no blood-diamonds for me!) Any suggestions on non-traditional engagement ring styles and how can I let my boyfriend know what I’d like - and still be surprised when he proposes? I want it all!

Ladies, would you wear a fake diamond engagement ring?

Nikki asked:

Ladies would you be offended your man wanted to buy a fake diamond ring for your engagement?
My bf and I have been talking (no serious plans-yet) about marriage and our future plans together. The subject of the ring came up and we talked about size, cut, band design, etc, so we went online to design a ring. The cost astounded us both! Over $8000 for what I thought was a simply designed ring (yes I know there are a lot of factors!)…which lead us to look at other stones such as moissianite. Much more affordable and very comparable in many way to a diamond.
So, back to my question. Would you be okay with wearing a “fake” diamond ring? And would you tell people it is fake-if they asked?

**The ring band would be white gold-so no green fingers :)

What is a good alternative for an engagement ring for a very cool girl who is anti-diamond?

In addition to non-diamond rings that are just diamond-like, are there also rings that, for instance, come with a certificate that part of the proceeds go to fighting the evils of the diamond trade?

Help?! Tiffany Setting Diamond Engagement ring?! Yes?! No?

LIDA asked:

Ok, so my boyfriend bought me a .39 diamond engagement ring in a platinum Tiffany setting. Picture here:

http://www.tiffany.com/Engagement/Item.aspx?subCategoryid=1001

I always wanted a 1 karot emerand cut diamond ring with diamonds on the side, but right now neither of us have much money. My boyfriend got the Tiffany ring for $1,500, which is a great deal since it’s currently worth $2,650 at the Tiffany store. I am still waiting for the ring to arrive & am unsure if I will like it since the setting looks fairly plain. My fiance says that I can return the ring and choose a different one if I want, but that means more money spent on a non-discounted ring. I want the ring to look nice without breaking his bank account, but I just don’t know if the TIffany setting ring will cut it. Honestly, has anyone ever purchased this ring before & are you happy with it? Also, do you think that my diamond size is too small? Should we save up for a larger one later? Or go for the discount?

What’s the best way to buy a diamond engagement ring?

treauj2122 asked:

I have always heard that engagement rings have very low resale value. And I always see rings of good quality (at least advertised as good quality) on craigslist. But I have reservations about using craigslist for a purchase like this.

Is this something I have to buy new? If so, what are the reputable dealers (besides Tiffany). If I could find a dealer that deals in “non-blood diamonds” it would be great.

I would like to spend between 3-4K. How do you get it appraised by someone other than who is selling it to you?

Any help anyone can give me I would much appreciate it.

Engagement rings need not always contain diamonds. Popular trends include using gemstones as sidestones as well as other precious stones.
