diamond engagement rings
Jenny asked:

My boyfriend keeps asking me what kind of ring I would want. I have never been a huge fan of diamonds. I have noticed that more and more people now get a colored stone with small diamonds around it or just a band. I really want an engagement ring, but would perfer something non-traditional, maybe blue. Has anyone done this or would you do this? What do you think?

My dad got my mom this really neat diamond, it’s sort of yellowish. It’s really unique and pretty, but now it’s worth about 15 times what my dad paid for it. When I get married, I, too, would probably like something non-traditional. Blue would be neat. I think it sounds like a great idea!

You could have him get you a ring where the main jewel is your birthstone and it is surronded by small diamonds.

Girl do whatever you want….you do not have to follow “whatever body else does”! Good Luck. I myself loves platinum and diamonds. My cousin has pink stones.

Alot of people have a non-traditional engagement ring. You should pick the ring that you are the most happy with. Since your boyfriend has asked you what kind you want, the decision is yours. Personally, I like diamonds, but I would consider a non-traditional stone as well.

I am a jeweler. I know for a fact that this is a common practice. It is more traditional to go with a white diamond, but it is entirely your choice. I love the blue diamonds also and think they look awsome in a white gold setting. Go to a reputable jewelry store and ask them to show you a blue diamond. Do whatever makes you happy. If all goes as planned, you will be looking at it every day for the rest of your life, so it should be exactly what YOU want. Congratulations!!

When I worked for a jewelry company alot of women picked out Aquamarine because it is blue, but not a dark blue (sapphire, topaz). I have noticed that more people are getting different color stones in the center and I think it’s fine.
The bride to be is the one wearing the ring, so it should be up to her as to what the stone will be. Go with whatever you like. Who cares what other people think.

anyone that wants a diamond needs to remember, people die digging for them and the profit on a peice of rock that someone called valuable is just nuts. when you see a women that is proud of her rock be sure you understand that she doesnt give a shit about anyone but herself. hopefully she will get hit by a bus

Engagement rings need not always contain diamonds. Popular trends include using gemstones as sidestones as well as other precious stones.
