Monoge C asked:

Well, almost every place I have visited wanted to turn these lovely rings into scrap, but I would much rather see them sold to a couple who would treasure them on their special day. Is there any place to could go online and speak directly to the young couples looking for the right rings? Thanks!

Did anyone make sure your diamond engagement ring had a certificate that said it was from a conflict free zone

Shatari asked:

I am just wondering because I saw that some people are against diamonds and once I read why, I was wondering if people really have certificates that went through the Kimberely Process and their diamond is from a conflict free zone.
Thanks, rude comments not necessary.

Is there somewhere online where you can trade diamond engagement rings?

Daniel B asked:

I have my ex-wife’s engagement ring that I gave her. I would like to propose to my current girlfriend, but would never dream of giving her the old engagement ring. Is there anywhere online where men can trade engagement rings of similar value? There must be someone out there in a similar situation with whom I could just trade rings, rather than go to a jewelry store and not receive top dollar for it. It’s a 1 carat emerald cut diamond engagement ring. I thought for sure there would be a market for this online, but haven’t located anything like what I am proposing.

Am I a horrible person for wanting a diamond engagement ring?

Friday, May 16th, 2008 | Weddings | 24 Comments

diamond engagement rings
mari asked:

In general I’m not a very materialistic person. I’m not into fashion, I drive a 1990 Toyota Camry, live in a modest rented house. My boyfriend and I have been talking about getting married, and it turns out he thought that a diamond ring costs $69.99 (this was caused by watching diamond commercials during the weeks before Christmas). And I explained that yes, you can get a diamond like that, but it won’t be a nice one.

I said that I didn’t expect anything big, but that I would like a diamond for my engagement/wedding ring. I’m planning on having it for the rest of my life, after all. He seems to be making a big deal out of the whole thing, and I end up feeling like a totally materialistic b**** because I want a real diamond. I told him that I wouldn’t love him any less if I got a rock on a twist-tie, but I don’t know if that helped.

Am I being unreasonable?

PS. My boyfriend is not poor, he makes about $50,000 a year. I don’t want something huge, just 1/2 to 3/4 carat, I think.
A few things:
1) I drive a cheap car because I bought it on my own (it’s my first car) and I almost never drive it. I take the bus to work.
2) My boyfriend has never been verbally abusive to me, don’t worry! He treats me fabulously. He has never called me a bitch, that’s my word, not his.
3) I think his issue with the cost of the ring has more to do with the fact that he doesn’t understand why I would want something so expensive and seemingly useless, when in general I’m a low-maintenance girl. He just doesn’t get it.
4) We have talked about my desire for a diamond, and I think when the time comes he’ll get me one. His shock at how much a diamond costs, and then him telling me that I probably couldn’t get anything bigger than a 1/2 carat is what makes me feel like I might be unreasonable.

I have a good quality diamond passed through the family I would like to use in an engagement ring. Just not sure if that is too small to use as the main diamond and if there are any settings that would look good with that size diamond?

Where should I look for ruby engagement rings in New York?

diamond engagement rings
Kickass Monster asked:

My girlfriend isn’t interested in a diamond engagement ring. Which is great, except that I’m completely clueless as to what to even look for in a non-diamond engagement ring. I have a decent sense of what she likes, but can just any nice ring be an engagement ring? And can anyone recommend a good jeweler for this sort of thing?

Engagement rings need not always contain diamonds. Popular trends include using gemstones as sidestones as well as other precious stones.
