Is there somewhere online where you can trade diamond engagement rings?

diamond engagement rings
Daniel B asked:

I have my ex-wife’s engagement ring that I gave her. I would like to propose to my current girlfriend, but would never dream of giving her the old engagement ring. Is there anywhere online where men can trade engagement rings of similar value? There must be someone out there in a similar situation with whom I could just trade rings, rather than go to a jewelry store and not receive top dollar for it. It’s a 1 carat emerald cut diamond engagement ring. I thought for sure there would be a market for this online, but haven’t located anything like what I am proposing.

Tough spot. Here are some ideas. Sell it via the internet or some other medium. (You will not get top dollar - lucky to get half). Go to a jeweler (not a chain but a locally owned and talk to the owner) They will let you trade in the diamond on another ring (also you won’t get full price for the trade and may pay full cost of new ring). It can be reset into another ring or pendent. Keep it and give it to one of your children of the first marriage (if there is one) or keep it and hope for the best down the road.

i’ve tried to trade some of my own jewelery and found that companies that are willing to take it really don’t like buying the diamond itself. they prefer to focus on just the gold, or platinum, etc. GOOD LUCK.

You can try going to a local jeweler. You may have to upgrade a bit but I think this will be the closest way you will get fair value.

Engagement rings need not always contain diamonds. Popular trends include using gemstones as sidestones as well as other precious stones.
