I have an emerald, surrounded by smaller diamonds - it’s my birthstone!

My sister has a aquamarine as her center stone on a white diamond eternity band. It is SO chic!!

Me…..two heart shaped stones, his birthstone (garnet) and mine (peridot) in a yellow gold twist setting with a s-shaped swirl of seven round diamonds inbetween…

My best friend has an opal engagement ring because opal is supposed to intensify whatever emotions you are feeling when you put it on- so engagement news is happy news so the opan stone is supposed to be “Charged” with the happiness she felt when first given the ring…
IT’s beautiful.

This is exactly like the ring that my fiance got for me for an engagement ring/wedding band(at my request, his budget’s limited);
I lied to him when I said I didn’t want an engagement ring.
So I hunted down an antique Victorian setting(sorry, lost the pic) that complimented it, and I’m resetting it with yellow sapphires and topaz. They won’t cost as much as diamonds, and they’re some of the birthstones for my sign, which is more accurate to me than the monthly ones chosen by the jewelry industry.

I felt that diamonds are so overdone. I personally enjoy color a lot. My engagement ring is a lovely Aquamarine with four diamonds trailing the band on each side. My wedding ring simply has diamonds trailing around the whole ring.
I originally wanted a ruby (my birthstone), amethyst, or a sapphire. But he picked the Aquamarine because it is more subtle. I’m glad I listened because it is the most beautiful ring in the world to me.

I wanted one! An amethyst one. When I was studying abroad, I bought myself a fake engagement ring in hopes it would deter the local Indians(for some reason, they really were into the idea of an indian girl from what they perceived was a permiscuous USA). The ring had two amethysts with tiny cz crystals on the side. I just love the color purple.
My fiance ended up giving me a very old diamond ring (heirloom), and I was happy with that for sentimental reasons.
I also wanted opal, just cuz it’s so pretty (also my birthstone)
Go to, you can find tons of photos of nontraditional rings. I love those rings the best. Can I see a photo of yours?

I DO!! My poor fiance wanted to get me a diamond but I said no. They’re fake expensive(the market only releases a fraction of the ones mined to keep the priced inflated. They are not as rare as we think) and the human rights violations to mine them disgust me! So he went for months trying to find a ring w/out diamonds. I feel bad only when jerks call him cheap for not buying me a diamond especially since I asked him not to and my ring is worth a pretty penny. I have a diamond necklace he gave me that I don’t like to wear bc I hate diamonds. Not to sound ungrateful but I just do haha. ANYWAYS
He ended up giving me a deep pink sapphire that looks purple. This way he spent $$$(which I felt was stupid especially since there are cheaper gemstones and money shouldn’t have been a focus but for men I guess this is important) and I got a non diamond ring. However we were best friends for four years before dating and he would always get me something purple. It wasn’t my favorite color just it would always be purple and it carried on into our relationship so I called him on it. He just laughed it off but the purple color means so much to me. It reminds me of our friendship, our years together. Idk to me the purple color makes me happy because it was always a theme with him.
Here is a pic of my ring I will say this, it is more pinkish in person some days when the light hits it.
Engagement rings need not always contain diamonds. Popular trends include using gemstones as sidestones as well as other precious stones.
