Would it be difficult to find a jeweler who would set 2 loose diamonds into stud earring settings?

I have a 1ct. diamond engagement ring that I have no use for. Would it be possible and cost efficient to purchase another matching loose diamond solitaire and have them both set into round stud earrings? Is this something a jeweler would be willing to do? If so, how much should I expect to spend for white gold, screwback settings and the labor? Thanks for your help and suggestions! :)

Help getting better price on a ring?

Hot Dawger asked:

I noticed that chain stores have way over priced diamonds after going on the chicago diamond exchange website and seeing what diamonds should cost. Do you guys have any tips for a new ring shopper to get the best deal on a diamond engagement ring? I want a high quality 1ct princess cut but everyone seems over priced compared to these costs. But with the diamond exchange your cost comes from customizing the jewelry and the accent stones. Any tips or anything would be helpful do jewelry stores negotiate?

Not to long ago, I bought a beautiful white gold diamond engagement ring and gave it to my beautiful finance. A few months later the ring began to fade, and to my astonishment the ring was yellow gold. I was told by the seller that the ring was pure white gold. Do I have a right to return the ring and get my money back?

Small engagement ring?

Wednesday, March 4th, 2009 | Weddings | 19 Comments

The girl who came to stay asked:

My boyfriend, well now fiancee, proposed to me recently. I have been waiting for this for quite a while and I am very excited. We are very young, I am 17, and he can’t afford the “traditional” diamond engagement ring. The ring he got me is actually a “promise ring” but we saw it one day while we were shopping and I fell in love with it. It is a very small carat size (1/7) and when people see it they just say “Oh.” or “Thats cute.” It hurts my feelings a lot and I’m not sure how to deal with their reactions. What would you do/ say? Have any of you had a similar problem?
We wouldn’t actually be getting married for 4+ years, for all you saying I’m too young.
To “Meh”- I love my ring, it’s just other people who don’t. I can tell by the way they look at me or say it. My problem is I get very hurt about their reactions and I don’t know what to say.

Thanks to all who are giving me great answers.

Engagement rings need not always contain diamonds. Popular trends include using gemstones as sidestones as well as other precious stones.
