Will this engagement ring be a good choice? And?

Satellites asked:

First of all i inherited a diamond ring from my great grandmother, and im going to use the main diamond from it for the engagement ring for my fiancee. She has tiny slender fingers, her ring finger is a 3 1/2.
The diamond size is 63points. Will it look big enough on her? and what do you think of this setting? ——> http://www.jamesallen.com/engagement-rings/settings-with-sidestones/ring/item_58-261_design.asp?module=setting

By 63 points do you mean .63 carats? If so then it will look great! My ring finger is between 3.5 and 3.75 and the main stone in my engagement ring is .6 carats. It looks perfectly proportionate for my hand/finger.

When my fiance was designing my ring he has his heart/budget set on a .7 carat centre stone, but the jeweler that made my ring suggested he only go for the .6 because of my tiny fingers (which was very true).

The setting is also quite lovely, with the extra sparkle of the added diamonds, but still quite delicate looking.

It sounds gorgeous, good luck and congrats!

That is the perfect size stone for someone with very small hands, and the setting you’ve chosen is gorgeous! Well done.

more than big enough. The setting is beautiful only thing to do is change the prong setting to 6 not 4 to hold it more securely.

Best of luck

Elegant, and if she has slender hands perfect!

Oh my goodness! That setting is stunning. A 63 points diamond would absolutely be big enough on her. That’s almost 2 thirds of a carat which is plenty on a tiny hand.

Congrats on the engagement!

Edit: someone above suggested changing to six prongs. Not really necessary. If set properly in 4 claws, that diamond ain’t goin’ anywhere. It changes the look of the ring quite a bit. Some people really like the look of 6 claws. (I’m not one of those people.)

Oh my gosh!! That is my exact ring!!!!! My fiance got a 2 carat diamond for the center stone and my finger is a size 4, to be honest it looks a little too big for my hand. We also got a diamond band for each side so I have two wedding bands that match the engagement ring. Oh my ring also has 6 prongs, you should really get that too, for safety reasons. Good Luck and GREAT CHOICE!!!!

It will be fine. The size I mean. Before you purchase a setting, make sure to ask if that specific setting can be sized to a 3.5. That’s a VERY small size and a lot of jewelers will say no unless it’s a solitare with no other diamonds on the band. So just check to make sure.

The setting is very pretty. Personally, I think a man should go out and purchase a new diamond for his fiancee. My ex husband gave me a cheap flawed stone that was his grandmothers so he wouldn’t have to spend his money on me. This was the pattern throughout the entire marriage. My present husband bought me something perfect and gorgeous and continues to do so. Just my feelings.

Engagement rings need not always contain diamonds. Popular trends include using gemstones as sidestones as well as other precious stones.
