Is a princess cut diamond supposed to be the same on all four sides?

My fiance’s engagement ring a 2 carat princess cut set in a simple 4 prong ring. When you look at the 4 sides of the diamond in the ring - 2 sides are different then the other two. Is this normal?
the diamond is a perfect square top and that is why it was so expensive. But the actual sides when looking at the diamond are not cut with the same design. two sides are flat and the other two are cut into a “V”

Opposing sides should be the same.

But a little asymmetry is normal.

IDEALLY you want want complete symmetry but that’s going to cost ya!

Additional Question: Can you give us specs? GIA or AGS cert?

Response:

Ouch! That doesn’t sound right at all!!!

When I said a little asymmetry is normal, I mean 7.0mm on one side and 7.07mm on the adjacent side would be normal.

But a V-cut edge on one side and a flat edge on the adjacent side?! That doesn’t sound right at all.

What does the diamond’s certificate say?

Need more info please.

No. All four sides should be equal in measurement and look.

yes they should be all four sides the same. either that or it is not princess cut or is a very flawed cut. a 2 carat princess cut ideally should be 7 mm x 7 mm square same cust all the way around to the point at the bottom

how different? It’s possible it’s an emerald cut.

Engagement rings need not always contain diamonds. Popular trends include using gemstones as sidestones as well as other precious stones.
