How much for a custom wedding band?
Sunday, July 4th, 2010 | Weddings
My fiance got me a gorgeous uniquely shaped diamond engagement ring. The shape of the ring is essentially a hexagon (6 sided). So basically in order for a potential wedding band to fit with this I would need a band with a “V” cutout. Is thing something I would HAVE to have made custom or are there ones available online? And if it must be done custom- how much would that run for 14 karat white gold.

It all depends on where you go and what you want. Go to different jewlers and get the prices and then decide from there. You should also go by how good the jewlers are.

you should be able to find one in a local jewelry store, check out where he got your ring and try on different bands with it. You will find something you like with it.

WEll it depends on who it is

You’ll have to ask a jeweler about this one. That doesn’t mean a jeweler in the Mall - I mean a custom jeweler. I believe Jared’s does custom work but don’t quote me.
If you live in an area with a large university nearby, call the art department and see if they have any suggestions for good custom jewelers in your area. Sometimes you can find a student who wants some commission work, too.

It depends on the jeweler an whether there are any diamonds, etc in the band.
I would talk to a couple of jewelers in your area. My guess would be that it will be anywhere from $1000 to $3000 or more depending on what you wanted it to look like.
Another option women sometimes do is to wear their engagement ring on their right hand and a wedding band on their left.

I’ve seen lots of rings like that while wedding band hunting last month. And custom rings cost less than regular rings, generally speaking. A custom ring can run anywhere from $150 to $600 for something really simple like that. Talk to a reputable jeweller about it. I know Peoples does custom work, as they just had a seminar on it earlier this month, but most large jewellery chains will do it. If you’re not getting any stones, then it should be at the lower end of the range.

I have an oddly shaped ring as well and no bands sit well next to it.
I was given a guesstimate of $700 to $1,500 depending upon the width and if I wanted stones in the band or just a plain band.
That is way more than we can afford at this time with the economy and the wedding expenses so we are going to wait for our 5th or 10th anniversary before having them made.
Engagement rings need not always contain diamonds. Popular trends include using gemstones as sidestones as well as other precious stones.
