First of all i inherited a diamond ring from my great grandmother, and im going to use the main diamond from it for the engagement ring for my fiancee. She has tiny slender fingers, her ring finger is a 3 1/2.
The diamond size is 63points. Will it look big enough on her? and what do you think of this setting? ——> http://www.jamesallen.com/engagement-rings/settings-with-sidestones/ring/item_58-261_design.asp?module=setting

Stefanie asked:

alright, I would like to have an engagement ring of some sort (diamond or band) to wear from the time of proposal to the wedding day. however after receiving my wedding band during the ceremony I would really rather just wear only the wedding band on my left hand. What are my options?

Enough for a decent engagement ring?

Wednesday, July 22nd, 2009 | Weddings | 19 Comments

MishMash asked:

I want to surprise my soon to be fiance with a nice diamond engagement ring. I have saved just about $10,000 for it. Is this enough to buy her a decent sized, high quality ring? How many karats do you think? By the way, is it better to surprise her or let her pick it out herself?
haha…cerbphan, I agree, she knows I love her already. Not trying to prove it, just trying to give her a nice gift. We’ve been thinking about getting hitched for about 5 years now. That’s only $2,000 saved each year so not too much. And my car is pretty fancy too so I figure I owe her something equally as good..haha! ;-) We shall see.

cdwg_patrone asked:

I’m getting my girlfriend a set of diamond earrings for Christmas. I know clarity and color are important when it comes to engagement rings, but is the same true for a set of diamond earrings? What is the average color and clarity of a diamond earring? Thanks!

Is it tacky to buy yourself a right-hand diamond ring?

Friday, May 1st, 2009 | Singles & Dating | 11 Comments

Curious! asked:

My boyfriend and I have been together on and off for 6 years. We have a good relationship but are no where near marriage. A lot of my friends are getting married, and I am happy for them, but feel slightly left out. It seems like so much importance is placed on the “step” of getting married. I want to remind myself that just because I am not married, I am still a successful, smart young woman. I’ve heard of and seen right hand diamond rings that symbolize just that. Do you think they are tacky? I am not going to wear it as an engagement ring, it’s going to be on my right hand.

Engagement rings need not always contain diamonds. Popular trends include using gemstones as sidestones as well as other precious stones.
