My boyfriend asked me how big a diamond engagement ring I wanted, and I told him that. I hate diamonds, I prefer gemstones, but I’m also a traditionalist. Is 0.33 to small? Can I go smaller and still have a nice engagement ring? I actually found a ring I like, but technically it’s a right hand ring, is there any rule that says I have to wear it on my right hand? I’d rather have that than a solitaire.
I want to know if I have to wear a right hand ring on my right hand, or can I wear it on my left?

If money isn’t really an issue, how many carats should my ring have? I want something big, but not obnoxious.

Engagement rings need not always contain diamonds. Popular trends include using gemstones as sidestones as well as other precious stones.
