What exactly can a 3-stone diamond ring be used for?

Jimmy asked:

I wanted to buy my girlfriend a 3-stone diamond ring instead of a promise ring because I havent seen any promise rings that liked. I like the 3-stone diamonds because they use bigger diamonds, and the just look a lot better than promise rings. MY question is… is it okay for me to give her a 3-stone diamond ring even though we arent even engaged yet? OR is it mainly for married couples? Can i use it as a promise of engagement like a promise ring? Because i know the 3-stone stands for “PAST-PRESENT-FUTURE”… Thanks!

Help getting better price on a ring?

Hot Dawger asked:

I noticed that chain stores have way over priced diamonds after going on the chicago diamond exchange website and seeing what diamonds should cost. Do you guys have any tips for a new ring shopper to get the best deal on a diamond engagement ring? I want a high quality 1ct princess cut but everyone seems over priced compared to these costs. But with the diamond exchange your cost comes from customizing the jewelry and the accent stones. Any tips or anything would be helpful do jewelry stores negotiate?

Where to see a large selection of diamond engagement rings in New York?

Me and my girlfriend are looking around to see what she likes, so before we go to a dealer we want to go somewhere with a large selection of diamonds and settings. Any recommendations. We are both busy during the day so somewhere open late would be best. Someone recommended Fortunoff…
We went to Macys and they had minimal selection.
I know 47th is the best to buy and browse….during the day. But I need somewhere I can go in the evening to see a large selection- after 7, and the only place i have heard so far of is Fortunoff, as most stores on 47th close at 6.

Did anyone make sure your diamond engagement ring had a certificate that said it was from a conflict free zone

I am just wondering because I saw that some people are against diamonds and once I read why, I was wondering if people really have certificates that went through the Kimberely Process and their diamond is from a conflict free zone.
Thanks, rude comments not necessary.

What are your thoughts on non-diamond engagement/wedding rings?

HooliganGrrl asked:

Given the problems with diamonds (unethical sourcing, inhumane conditions in diamond mining, human abuse, etc.), I really don’t like the idea of a diamond ring. It just seems unethical to me (no offense if you have one, this is just my personal view.)

What are other options? My concern is that since our culture is so used to associating diamonds with weddings/engagements, that most people would not even recognize a non-diamond ring for what it was (engagement, wedding, etc.)

Heck - I like emeralds better anyway - I love green!

Anybody else feel this way? What would your solutions be?

For example, would you prefer a large solitary center diamond, or a smaller, shinier center diamond next to smaller diamonds on the setting.

Your Question
Idea of cost of diamond engagement ring?
I am looking for about a 2-carat center princess cut diamond ring with a small band with diamonds all the way around, good quality. Can anyone give me an idea of how much this will be? I’ve tried looking on the net, but don’t have much luck finding any price range! Thanks!

Are there any diamond engagement ring alternatives?

SSWildcat asked:

My Girlfriend is opposed to diamonds, particularly the ones that come from Africa. Are there any alternatives to a Diamond Engagement Ring? I have searched on the internet and all that I can find is cubic zirconia, and the like. I don’t like fake diamonds. I want something real, and priceless. Any Ideas?

Engagement rings need not always contain diamonds. Popular trends include using gemstones as sidestones as well as other precious stones.
