How much for a custom wedding band?

a.renee24 asked:

My fiance got me a gorgeous uniquely shaped diamond engagement ring. The shape of the ring is essentially a hexagon (6 sided). So basically in order for a potential wedding band to fit with this I would need a band with a “V” cutout. Is thing something I would HAVE to have made custom or are there ones available online? And if it must be done custom- how much would that run for 14 karat white gold.

Enough for a decent engagement ring?

MishMash asked:

I want to surprise my soon to be fiance with a nice diamond engagement ring. I have saved just about $10,000 for it. Is this enough to buy her a decent sized, high quality ring? How many karats do you think? By the way, is it better to surprise her or let her pick it out herself?
haha…cerbphan, I agree, she knows I love her already. Not trying to prove it, just trying to give her a nice gift. We’ve been thinking about getting hitched for about 5 years now. That’s only $2,000 saved each year so not too much. And my car is pretty fancy too so I figure I owe her something equally as good..haha! ;-) We shall see.

Would you consider a “lab-created diamond” for an engagement ring?

Sunday, January 4th, 2009 | Weddings | 25 Comments

Snarf asked:

My fiance does not really have any of his own savings to put towards a ring, and he has some debt which I would much rather him pay off than save for a ring for me. So we were thinking of going the created diamond route, just so I can have something to show that we are engaged. Do you think most people can tell it is not real? Has anyone seen any of these in person? It is hard to tell the quality from the website, we would get one that is not too large to make it look more real.

This is the one we are looking at (click on enlarge to see clearly)

What do you think?
Any thoughts on this particular ring?

Engagement rings! Help with buying a diamond?

mrbeamer911 asked:

So, as with life, if you want something perfect you gotta be ready to pay an arm and a leg for it.

I am looking to buy my fiance a diamond solitaire engagement ring. Unfortunately since I left my job to move across the country I am on a bit of a budget.

The ideal ring that I want to buy is a 1.5 carat, VS1 or better, F or better color with an Prem cut. Unfortunately, those run in about the $15-17k range.

So, I need to “adjust” one if the 5 Cs to make it fit my budget of about $10-12k.

What should I sacrifice? Color? Clarity? Carat is out of the question since I want to keep it at 1.5.

So anyone have any opinions?

Fiance wants a dinky ring so for those of you who think she is greedy and stuck up….she is not. This is my choice.

Help?! Tiffany Setting Diamond Engagement ring?! Yes?! No?

LIDA asked:

Ok, so my boyfriend bought me a .39 diamond engagement ring in a platinum Tiffany setting. Picture here:

http://www.tiffany.com/Engagement/Item.aspx?subCategoryid=1001

I always wanted a 1 karot emerand cut diamond ring with diamonds on the side, but right now neither of us have much money. My boyfriend got the Tiffany ring for $1,500, which is a great deal since it’s currently worth $2,650 at the Tiffany store. I am still waiting for the ring to arrive & am unsure if I will like it since the setting looks fairly plain. My fiance says that I can return the ring and choose a different one if I want, but that means more money spent on a non-discounted ring. I want the ring to look nice without breaking his bank account, but I just don’t know if the TIffany setting ring will cut it. Honestly, has anyone ever purchased this ring before & are you happy with it? Also, do you think that my diamond size is too small? Should we save up for a larger one later? Or go for the discount?

Engagement rings need not always contain diamonds. Popular trends include using gemstones as sidestones as well as other precious stones.
